Transportation is a very important factor in the life of a senior citizen. Many are not able to drive because of illness, loss of spouse, no driver's license and many other reasons. The COA van takes the seniors: grocery shopping, doctorappointments, drug stores for prescriptions, beauty parlors, barbershop, and day care centers. The van is available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
Blood Pressure Clinic is held every fourth Wednesday of the month at the center conducted by the Paramedics of Freetown. Blood pressure is taken and blood sugar is checked.
Tax Consultants help seniors with their tax forms.
Farmers Market Coupons are acquired and given to qualified seniors seasonally.
A podiatrist is at the center everyr month. You can reach Dr. Markowitz at 1-401-455-3554 to schedule an appointment.
Serve is a food bank where people can purchase food much cheaper than at the food markets and is sponsored by the COA and is distributed at the center by volunteers once a month. The only stipulation is that one must do two hours of community service to qualify. The Serve Program is coordinated through the senior center. SERVE Distribution and Sign up 10:15 AM
Shine (Serving Health Information Needs of Elders) is available to seniors from a representative who is trained in this field. The first Wednesday of the month a representative comes to the center.
Fuel assistance forms are available at the center. You do not have to be a senior to have the Director assist you in filling out these forms. Anyone can come to the center to apply for for fuel assistance. Please call the center to make an appointment.
Loan Project: wheel chairs, canes, walkers, bath seats etc. are loaned out without charge) to anyone who has need of them.
Meals on wheels are delivered five days a week. Photo ID and MBTA Train Passes are taken every Thursday. Senior Pharmacy applications are available and the Director will assist you in filling out these forms. Call the center to make an appointment.
The Freetown C.O.A. is a meeting place for seniors from throughout the town. In addition to regular meetings, special activities are offered to bring families and friends together often. Some regularly scheduled activities are:

Sundaes (June through September)
TUESDAY
Exercise (10:30 AM - 11:15 AM) and Bingo (1:00 PM - 3:00 PM)
WEDNESDAY
Line Dancing - Held at the Freetown VFW (9:30-11:30)
